Some sessions just fill you up in the best way. This was one of them.
The second I arrived at Echo Canyon Reservoir and met Rana and her sweet family, I could feel their energy. Their warmth instantly reminded me why I love what I do.
At first, the girls weren’t in the best mood. But once they met me, something clicked. They warmed up quickly, chatting with me nonstop and even making me laugh as they ran back to the camera to see each photo. Their oldest especially loved sneaking peeks at the screen, and I didn’t mind one bit.
One of my favorite moments came when I asked them all to make jokes together. The girls erupted with silly noises and chatter, and I could see their parents looking at them with pure love and joy. It was real, raw, and beautiful, the kind of moment you can’t pose.
What I loved most about this session was the connection. It wasn’t just about the mountains or the lake in the background, though Echo Canyon gave us a gorgeous setting. It was about the way this family’s energy reminded me that photography isn’t just about pictures. It’s about people. Their warmth and playfulness turned my whole day around, and I left with a full heart.
This is why I keep showing up with my camera. Not just to capture a pretty photo, but to build connections that go deeper than the lens.
